Installing a TCP/IP-based HP2100 Printer on Windows XP
- Click Start
- Click Printers and Faxes
- Click “Add a printer” in the top left
- Click Next
- Ensure “Local printer attached to this computer”
is enabled
- Deselect “Detect and install my Plug and Play
printer”
- Click Next
- Select “Create a new port”
- Click on the drop-down arrow, and select “Standard
TCP/IP port”
- Click Next
- Welcome message appears, click Next
- In the box labelled “Printer Name or IP Address”,
enter the IP number. (Do not adjust the “Port Name”
box)
- Click Next
- Click Finish
- There will be a brief pause before the “Add Printer
Software” dialog box appears
- Under the “Manufacturer” box, select
“HP”
- Under the “Printers” box, select “HP
Laserjet 2100 PCL 6”
- Click Next
- Under “Do you want to use this printer as the default
printer”, select “No”
- Click Next
- For “Do you want to print a test page”, select
the appropriate option
- Click Next
- Click Finish
- When the files have been copied, the new printer should
appear in the printers window
- The process is now complete
