Installing a TCP/IP-based HP2100 Printer on Windows XP

1. Click Start
2. Click Printers and Faxes
3. Click “Add a printer” in the top left
4. Click Next
5. Ensure “Local printer attached to this computer” is enabled
6. Deselect “Detect and install my Plug and Play printer”
7. Click Next
8. Select “Create a new port”
9. Click on the drop-down arrow, and select “Standard TCP/IP port”
10. Click Next
11. Welcome message appears, click Next
12. In the box labelled “Printer Name or IP Address”, enter the IP number. (Do not adjust the “Port Name” box)
13. Click Next
14. Click Finish
15. There will be a brief pause before the “Add Printer Software” dialog box appears
16. Under the “Manufacturer” box, select “HP”
17. Under the “Printers” box, select “HP Laserjet 2100 PCL 6”
18. Click Next
19. Under “Do you want to use this printer as the default printer”, select “No”
20. Click Next
21. For “Do you want to print a test page”, select the appropriate option
22. Click Next
23. Click Finish
24. When the files have been copied, the new printer should appear in the printers window
25. The process is now complete
