To investigate the levels of growth and/or stress that parents experience following the diagnosis of autism for their child and to identify the characteristics of the parents that lead to these experiences.
Who can participate?
Mothers and fathers over the age of 18 who have at least one child diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder.
Do I have to take part?
No, your participation is voluntary. If you chose to participate and then change your mind you can withdraw at any time by simply closing the browser window. If you decide to withdraw, all your data will be destroyed and will not be used in the study. There are no consequences to deciding that you no longer wish to participate.
What do I have to do if I take part?
If you are happy to participate in the research, we will ask you to read this information sheet, agree to the consent form, and begin the online questionnaire. The questionnaire should take approximately 20 minutes to complete. At the end, there will be a debriefing form to tell you more about the research.
Will my taking part in the study be kept confidential?
All information you provide will be kept confidential and only members of the research team will have access to it. No data will be provided to any third party. The findings of this research will be reported in a way that it will not be possible to identify any individual’s information.
What will happen to the results of this research study?
The results will be written up as part of an academic dissertation and it is possible that the results of this study will be published in peer reviewed academic journals.
